Saturday 20 February, the Taurus ÖBB E.190.018 make the full trip from Vienna to Venice with the Eurocity 31, after what it returned to Vienna at the same day with the same trainset as the Eurocity 30. What is exceptional? The Taurus locomotive was in Railjet livery, which that means that this Latin excursion is maybe the next coming of the famous Austrian trains in Venice, in place of some Eurocity. All neighbors of Austria would thus be connected by Railjet, except for Slovenia.

According Ferrovie.ITthis possibility should correspond to the recent order from ÖBB to Siemens to provide 9 trainsets with seven vehicles worth 145 million euros. These trains should strengthen the major service Vienna - Salzburg but also be most likely used on Italy. Technically, the Taurus must wear a red band on their front sides to ride in Italy. The composition of the trains should also be amended with 5 class cars "Standard", a mixed dining car / First and a pilot-car "First", with reduction in "Business" seats. The new cars will have to receive permission to travel on the RFI network.

This is once again an example of the offensive politic of the Austrian public company, which does not intend to leave the international market and invests in modern rolling stock. Pictures of the first Taurus Railjet can be seen at this link:
